What's New in Acre Access Control: May 2026 Release

The May 2026 release of Acre Access Control introduces five new capabilities and resolves three Classic Client defects. Two capabilities ship as installable Gallery packages; two are included in the release build for the Schneider Electric Unified Client; and one is included in the release build for the Classic Client. This post covers what changed, how each capability is delivered, and which clients it applies to.

Release at a glance

  • Badge Access Level Sync Workflow — server-side reconciliation of badge access levels. Gallery package, v26.05.58.
  • Badge Print Report — a filterable audit trail for badge printing. Gallery package, v26.05.75, with audit logging built into the release.
  • Allegion Engage GWE2 Gateway Support — GWE1/GWE2 gateway identification and classification for IP Mode and RSI Mode deployments. Included in the release build (Classic Client).
  • Controller Status Widget enhancement — 17 controller statuses with per-status detail. Included in the release build.
  • People in Area Widget refresh fix — automatic refresh now works as configured. Included in the release build.
  • Three Classic Client defects resolved — covering badge access level assignment, Live Monitoring recovery, and logout stability.

Badge Access Level Sync Workflow

When you change the access levels on a Badge Type, those changes used to reach only newly issued badges — every badge already in circulation kept its old configuration until someone updated it by hand. In systems with large access level sets, that manual sync also slowed performance.

The Badge Access Level Sync Workflow moves reconciliation server-side and keeps issued badges aligned with their Badge Type definitions:

  • Preview before you commit. Sync Reports show which badges a change will affect before anything is applied.
  • Sync in bulk. Apply access level additions and removals across every affected badge for one or more Badge Types in a single action.
  • Schedule it. Recurring syncs keep issued badges aligned automatically.

This capability is an installable Gallery package (v26.05.58, released 15 May 2026) and runs on Acre Access Control. It also resolves a related defect: applying a Badge Type to a person record now correctly assigns all configured access levels.

Badge Print Report and audit logging

Acre Access Control now records an audit log event every time a badge is printed from the Badge Preview panel, across both the Classic Client and the Unified Client. Audit logging is automatic — no configuration required — and is included in the release build.

The Badge Print Report, an installable Gallery package (v26.05.75), turns that log into a filterable audit trail. You can filter by print date, event type, Badge Type, access level, reader, the user who printed, the person printed for, and card number.

One behaviour difference to know: on the Unified Client (UC Web), browser security limits what can be captured — the printer name is not recorded, and successful, failed, and cancelled prints cannot be distinguished. The Classic Client captures the complete record.

Allegion Engage GWE2 Gateway Support

The Classic Client now identifies and classifies Allegion Engage gateways as GWE1 or GWE2. GWE2 gateways support a maximum of five linked locks; GWE1 gateways continue to support up to ten. The identification method depends on the communication mode in use.

In IP Mode, the gateway version is identified and saved automatically when a gateway is imported from a site. If adding an IP gateway manually, a Serial Number is now required. Firmware update options are specific to the gateway model identified by the serial number, and any unsaved changes to the Serial Number must be saved before a firmware update can proceed.

In RSI Mode, the gateway version is determined from the serial number entered by the user. The Serial Number field is mandatory when adding or editing an RSI-mode gateway.

Serial numbers must begin with B1 (GWE1) or B2 (GWE2),followed by 16 characters. Existing gateway entries with no serial number set will default to GWE1 classification. This capability is included in the May2026 release build.

Controller Status Widget enhancement

For teams running the Schneider Electric Unified Client, the Controller Status Widget now surfaces 17 controller statuses as selectable icons. Selecting a status opens a detail panel listing the controllers in that state, with display name, type, status, MAC address, firmware version, and connection. From the panel you can reboot a controller, clear and reload cards, push the controller database, or open Live Monitoring. This capability is included in the May 2026 release build.

People in Area Widget refresh fix

Also for the Schneider Electric Unified Client: the People in Area Widget now refreshes automatically at its configured frequency, correcting a prior condition where automatic refresh did not occur. No manual refresh is required.

Resolved Classic Client issues

The release resolves three Classic Client defects:

  • Badge Type access level assignment — applying a Badge Type to a person record now automatically assigns all configured access levels.
  • Live Monitoring recovery — after a device wakes from sleep or a network connection is restored, the Classic Client now rebuilds the event connection within seconds, so Live Monitoring, Visual Verification, and Floorplans resume without a restart.
  • Logout stability — logging out and back in no longer freezes the application.

How to get the May 2026 release

The Badge Access Level Sync Workflow and the Badge Print Report are available now as installable packages from the Gallery. The Controller Status Widget enhancement, People in Area Widget fix, and Allegion Engage GWE2 Gateway Support are included in the May 2026 release build.
