Access It! Now Works Hand-in-Hand with Milestone XProtect

Let’s Talk

Access control tells you what happened at the door. Video tells you what it looked like. When those two systems live apart, operators lose time switching screens, correlating timestamps, and piecing incidents together by hand.

The Access It! integration with Milestone XProtect closes that gap. It connects access control and video in both directions, so events, live and recorded footage, and device commands all come together in one place. Operators can monitor activity, verify an event with video in the moment, and take action without leaving the system they're already in.

Here's how it works.

Video, right where the event happens

With the Access It! plug-in for Milestone, the right video surfaces automatically when an event occurs, so operators don't have to go looking for it.

Access events and alarms can automatically launch live or recorded video, so the moment something happens at a door, the relevant footage is already in front of you. Cameras and multi-camera views can be associated with specific doors and devices, and configurable pre- and post-event recording windows capture the full context around an incident, not just the instant of the alarm. Synchronized timelines make playback and investigation quick, and clips can be exported natively from within Access It!.

Setup stays simple. Cameras are imported and managed directly within the integration, custom single- or multi-camera layouts are easy to build, and camera associations can be maintained flexibly without disturbing your underlying Milestone configuration.

Access control, right inside Milestone

The integration runs the other way too. From within the Milestone Smart Client, operators get a live view of access activity and can act on Access It! hardware directly.

Real-time access events stream straight into Milestone and are correlated with video, alarms, and system logs:

  • Access granted and access denied
  • Door open, door held open, door forced open, and request-to-exit
  • Alarm conditions and system alerts

And operators aren't limited to watching. They can take direct action on access control hardware from the same screen:

  • Lock, unlock, and normalize doors
  • Trigger outputs (activate, deactivate, or pulse)
  • Reset devices and alarms
  • Monitor real-time door and device status

That means a security team working primarily in Milestone can respond to an access event the instant they see it, without switching to a separate system.

Why it matters

Bringing access and video together in one workflow changes the day-to-day for the people watching the screens:

  • Improved situational awareness. Access events, door status, and video sit side by side in real time, making it easier to understand and respond to an incident as it unfolds.
  • Faster response and investigation. Event-driven video and centralized controls let operators verify a situation instantly and act on it immediately.
  • Reduced operational complexity. A single interface replaces multiple systems, simplifying training, workflows, and daily operations.
  • Scalable, flexible deployment. The integration supports a wide range of environments, from mid-size sites to large enterprise systems.
  • A stronger security posture. Correlating access events with video improves incident accuracy, auditability, and the overall effectiveness of your security operations.

Built-in accountability

Because verification and response so often need to hold up after the fact, the integration keeps a clean record. Acknowledgements for video alarms can be pre-configured, an image can be attached for forensic investigation, and every acknowledgement is stored in the Access It! audit trail. The result is a defensible, reviewable history of who saw what and what they did about it.

Get started

The Access It! integration with Milestone XProtect is ready to deploy. To learn more or to scope it for your environment, see the Access It! and Milestone XProtect integration datasheet or reach out to your Acre representative, who can help you plan the right configuration for your sites.

Full bi-directional functionality requires the appropriate Milestone plug-in license (Standard or Enterprise) and, for command-and-control from within Milestone, the Milestone MIPS API license.
